Cabinet painting

Cabinet painting that makes an old kitchen feel new

Painting your existing cabinets gives you a modern kitchen or bath without the cost, mess, and wait of a full replacement, as long as it's done with the prep and products cabinets actually need.

How we paint cabinets

  • Removing doors, drawers, and hardware and labeling every piece
  • Deep degreasing, because kitchen grease is the number one reason cabinet paint fails
  • Scuff-sanding and filling dings, gaps, or old hardware holes
  • Bonding primer made for slick surfaces
  • Smooth, durable cabinet-grade enamel, sprayed or finely brushed
  • Reinstalling doors and hardware, adjusted so everything closes right

Good to know

Hardware swaps

New pulls and knobs at the same time? We can fill old holes and drill for new ones.

Colors that work

White, warm whites, greens, blues, and two-tone kitchens with a different island color are all popular right now.

Bathrooms and built-ins

Vanities, laundry cabinets, bookshelves, and built-ins get the same process.

Living in your kitchen

We plan the job so you can still use your kitchen, and we'll walk you through the timeline at the estimate.

Common questions

How long does cabinet painting take?

A typical kitchen takes several days because doors need time to cure between coats before they're rehung. You'll get an exact timeline with your estimate.

Will painted cabinets chip?

Painted cabinets hold up well when they're properly degreased, primed with a bonding primer, and finished with a hard cabinet enamel. Skipping those steps is what causes peeling.

Can you paint wood-grain oak cabinets?

Yes. Oak's open grain shows through paint unless it's filled first. We'll talk through whether you want a smooth look or are fine with some grain showing.

Is painting cheaper than new cabinets?

In most cases, yes, by a wide margin, and it's much faster. If your cabinet boxes are solid, painting is usually the best value.
